ITA Applauds Bulldog Men’s Tennis for Scholarly Success

It was announced late last week that the University of Redlands men's tennis team was one of 451 programs among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) All-Academic Teams for scholarly success.  In addition, seniors Gram Leahy (Portland, OR), Max Licona (Los Angeles, CA), Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA), and Taylor Hunt (Seattle, WA), and sophomore Tom Suchodolski (Amherst, MA) garnered individual recognition as ITA Scholar-Athletes.

As a team, Redlands exceeded the minimum GPA of 3.20 for the 2014-15 academic year to become one of 44 NCAA Division III men's teams to receive this honor.  This includes fellow Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) members Caltech, Chapman University, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.

For individual selection, student-athletes must own a GPA of 3.50 or higher for the current school year and must have completed at least two semesters at his current institution.  Redlands' five honorees are among the 2,566 Scholar-Athletes who were recognized by the ITA from all collegiate divisions.

Leahy and Licona each wrap up their respective Bulldog careers by becoming four-time ITA Scholar-Athletes with this final award.  Leahy recently completed his degree in Accounting, while Licona graduated with a degree in International Relations.

After earning the distinction during their respective freshman years, Lipscomb, Hunt, and Suchodolski all repeat as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the second time.  Lispcomb finished his degree in Global Business and Hunt graduated with a degree in Psychology earlier this spring.  Suchodolski looks forward to his junior campaign in 2015-16 as he continues to study Global Business at Redlands.
