It was announced late yesterday that the University of Redlands men's tennis team collected Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic honors for boasting a combined cumulative GPA of 3.20 or above. In addition, four players garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete status, which requires that the individual be a varsity letter-winner, own a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current year, and have attended their present institution for at least two semesters.

With a team GPA of 3.25, the Bulldogs' achievement resulted from the academic contributions of 14 players who also competed in at least one match during the 2011 campaign.

Redlands joins 26 other schools in NCAA Division III that earned this distinction, including three from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Individually, senior Leif Durley (Fresno, CA), graduate student Jeff Hammond (Mercer Island, WA), junior Michael Jacobson (Chicago, IL), and sophomore Anish Nanda (Cerritos, CA) earned the Scholar-Athlete recognition from the ITA.

The Bulldogs completed the 2011 season with a 13-12 overall record to go along with a 6-3 mark in conference action for third place.
