Four U of R Men's Soccer players named CSC Academic All-Region

REDLANDS, Calif. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced their 2022 Academic All-District Team, and the University of Redlands men's soccer team has four members. The four players are defender Skylar Darwen (Los Angeles, CA), forward Phillip Kostenko (Zelenokumsk, Russia), forward Jamie Dulle (Clayton, MO), and midfielder Joseph Parra (West Covina, CA).

Darwen was named to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Second Team and was a SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week (Sept. 20). In 2022 he played in 16 games with 16 starts, a career best. His first two collegiate goals were scored during the season at Caltech (Sept. 17) and in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament Quarterfinal at Cal Lutheran (Nov. 1). He also had a two-assist game vs. Pomona-Pitzer (Sept. 28). He is a Business Administration major and plans to go to Law School after graduation.

Kostenko had a career year in his sophomore season with four goals. Also had career-highs of 21 shots, 12 shots on-goal, and eight points. Set his career-high for goals in a season at Whittier (Oct. 22) when he scored his third of the season in a 5-2 win. He is a Business Administration major and plans to move back up to Seattle and find work at microsoft or another firm after graduation.

Dulle in his senior season made 14 starts along with scoring four goals, both career best, and posting two assists. He scored and assisted in a 5-0 win vs. La Verne (Oct. 20). Then in a 3-0 win at home against Chapman (Oct. 29) on senior night, he scored his first career brace. He is a Biology major and will go to Medical School upon graduation.

Parra was named to the All-SCIAC Second Team for the second time in 2022. He had four goal contributions with one goal and three assists. He had his first career two-assist game at Whittier (Oct. 22). The Bulldogs were 3-0-0 when he contributed to a goal. He is a Psychology major and plans to go into Law Enforcement after graduation.
