HOLLAND, Michigan – The University of Redlands Men's Soccer team ended their two-game road trip to Michigan Saturday with a draw against Hope College bringing their record to 0-1-1.

The Bulldogs were poised to come away with their first victory of 2022 after holding a 1-0 lead for 89:40 but had to settle for the tie as the Flying Dutchmen would rally to put away the equalizer with :20 seconds remaining coming off of a corner kick. Spencer Palmer (San Diego, Calif.) collected the lone goal for the Maroon and Grey scoring four and a half minutes into the second half. He intercepted an errant pass at the midfield before carrying it just outside the 18 before putting it away bottom right corner past a diving keeper.  This lead would hold through the 89th minute before the Flying Dutchmen would find some luck.

A shot was taken on frame, which tested freshman keeper Brady Bachman (San Diego, CA).  The shot was heading near post and he was forced to make a decision on whether to let it go or make the stop.  He ended up making the save, but his momentum carried him out of bounds leading to the corner kick, which Hope would convert as Mario Hrvojevic would finish inside the box tapping in the game-tying goal.  This was only their fifth shot on goal all evening.

In the first half Joseph Parra (West Covina, CA) and Ethan Kovach (Las Vegas, NV) each had shot attempts in the opening 13 minutes with no shots on target for either side until the 27th minute when Jamie Dulle (St. Louis, MO) forced a save out of the Flying Dutchmen keeper.

Bachman earned his first career start between the posts and came out with a couple of big saves in the 52nd and 57th minutes to keep the Bulldogs in front.  He played the full 90:00 minutes and made four saves as he helped the Bulldogs earn a point on the road.

Cody Bell (Highland, CA) had an attempt on goal that was denied as Redlands was looking to make it a two-score game with less than 17 minutes left. Through the 80th minute the Bulldogs had three unanswered attempts, but none were on target.

Redlands was outshot on the evening 11-9 and put themselves under pressure by allowing 12 corner kicks, while earning two themselves, which came in the first half.

Palmer opened his account with his first goal of the season and was the only Bulldog to have multiple (2) shots.

After two tough road cotests, the road does not get any easier for the Maroon and Grey as they return home for a match-up at Farquhar Field against Montclair State, ranked No. 23 in the Division III National Polls.  This game will take place on Saturday, September 10 at 6:00 p.m.
