The University of Redlands men's soccer team took down the University of La Verne 3-1 on Wednesday night in its last Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) home contest of the regular season.

The Maroon and Gray got off to a quick start as first-year midfielder Joseph Parra (West Covina, CA) received a low cross from senior midfielder Dylan Carlyle (San Jose, CA) at the three-minute mark. He took a touch and banged it home for the first goal of his collegiate career to go up 1-0.

first-year forward Ethan Kovach (Las Vegas, NV) nearly registered an assist a few minutes later as he fed a corner kick to sophomore midfielder Avery Jacobson (Seattle, WA), who's header went high.

Deeper into the half, the Leopards knotted the score on a free-kick from the top of the box in the 30th minute.

However, Redlands remained aggressive by ending the half with the final four shots while the defense did not allow the Leopards to earn any more looks on goal.

Less than 10 minutes into the second stanza, sophomore forward Steve Acuña (Pico Rivera, CA) scored through traffic, from about 19 yards out off of a feed from Kovach, which proved to be the eventual game-winner. As the Bulldogs continued to dominate possession, sophomore defender Peyton Menti (Seattle, WA) leaped up to head in the insurance goal from Acuña's corner kick to make it 3-1 in the 78th.

The Bulldogs' defense handled the rest and did not allow another shot from La Verne to seal the 3-1 victory.

The Maroon and Gray outshot the Leopards 20-6 while winning the corner-kick battle 9-1.

Redlands (8-4-3, 7-2-2 SCIAC) takes to the road to face off against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the final game of the regular season on Saturday, November 2, at 11:30 a.m.
