Senior Midfielder Casey ChubbFertal Named All-American by United Soccer Coaches

The United Soccer Coaches recently released the 2017-18 All-America selections for NCAA Division III, with senior midfielder Casey ChubbFertal (Eugene, OR) representing the University of Redlands on the Second Team.

This marks the eighth All-America selection under Head Coach Ralph Perez.  Among the Bulldog men's soccer program, ChubbFertal is the first All-American since Third-Teamer Richie Marquez in 2012 and the first Second-Teamer since Ross Schunk in 2008.

He is also the only representative from any Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) school on either the men's or women's Division III teams.

ChubbFertal is a one-of-a-kind student-athlete who helped establish the tone for the midfield beginning in his freshman season. He has developed into a two-time captain who is extremely coachable and serves as an exemplary student-athlete, leader, and motivator. Throughout the season, he consistently maintained a positive presence in the midfield and successfully orchestrated multiple scoring opportunities but also seamlessly transitioned into a major contributor on defense.

In addition to being named the 2017 SCIAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Year, ChubbFertal bolstered his résumé with his second-consecutive First-Team All-West Region nod and third overall such award. This three-time All-Conference selection also excels in the classroom, as he was named to the SCIAC All-Academic Team and became an NSCAA Scholar All-American.

During the most recent campaign, he ranked second on the team with eight goals and four assists for a team-leading 20 points.  He supplied three game-winners, all of which came during SCIAC competition to help propel the Bulldogs to an undefeated, 12-0-2 campaign.

Following his impressive four-year career, ChubbFertal ranks in the Redlands top-10 career records in six categories including goals, assists, points, games played, and the 15 goals/10 assists club, while tying for the top spot with 88 games started.
