Redlands Men’s Soccer Takes Down Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 2-0

In front of a large crowd on hand at Farquhar Field, the University of Redlands men’s soccer team failed to disappoint, bringing its record to 7-4-1 overall and 6-0-1 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play with a 2-0 win against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Oct. 8.

Senior forward Alex Parker (Chula Vista, CA) battled for possession in the box in the 57th minute and eventually took control of the ball and put it in the back of the net for the first goal of the match.

The Bulldogs ensured the victory when senior forward Ross Schunk (Portland, OR) blasted a shot from outside the top of the box and scored in the 85th minute.

Playing virtually untested for the entirety of the match, junior goalkeeper Evan Hobson (San Diego, CA) tallied one save and earned the shutout victory.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ Ryan Fahey notched seven saves on nine shots on goal for the Stags.

Offensively, the Bulldogs outshot the Stags by a 21-8 margin, and Redlands garnered seven corner kick opportunities to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ zero.

The conference-unbeaten Redlands team faces a tough test in Pomona-Pitzer Colleges this Saturday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. on Farquhar Field.
