Redlands Men's Golf places 21st at Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. – The University of Redlands Men's Golf team made strides after a tough first round, but their comeback fell short as they finished 21st out of 30 teams at the Jekyll Island Invitational. The Bulldogs were one of 14 teams ranked inside the Top-20 for Golfstat that took part in the three-day invite.  

Round 1

The Bulldogs' 307 put them in 22nd, 24 strokes behind the tournament leader and No. 1 Emory University (EU). Zane Mularski (Spokane, WA) helped keep the Bulldogs competitive with a 73, putting him in a tie for 24th.

Round 2

Across the second 18 Redlands moved up to 20th thanks to a 13-stroke improvement at a 294. Mularski dropped a stroke down to an even par 72, putting him in a tie for 26th. Making a big impact on the Bulldogs' team improvement was Aaron Buck (Tualatin, OR) who went from a 76 first round to a 70 during the second moving him into a tie for 34th.

Round 3

Redlands was unable to make a big enough dent with their final round 301 as they finished in 21st with a 902.

Buck would finish as the top individual, placing in a tie for 47th. Mularski ended his tournament in a tie for 66th, Spencer Leader (Oakland, CA) was tied for 79th, Joshua Fambro (Taos, N.M.) had a tough weekend coming in a tie for 95th, despite his final round being a 71 after shooting an 81-77.  Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR) was the last Bulldog to score shooting a final round 79 taking a tie for 131st.

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 2 tournament in Pomona, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2.
