U of R Men's Golf Wins ERAU Invitational Behind Three Top-10 Finishes

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – The University of Redlands Men's Golf team, ranked No. 19 in the Division III National Polls according to Bushnell/GCAA took home the title at the ERAU Invitational in Prescott, AZ. 

The Maroon and Grey took on Antelope Hills Golf Club for three rounds beating the hosts Embry-Riddle by four strokes.  UR finished with a 299-291-290 (880) as they win back-to-back invites (Bulldog Invitational-ERAU Invitational).  

The Bulldogs shot an 880 for the three rounds and used three Top-10 finishes from Aaron Buck (Tualatin, OR)Zane Mularski(Spokane, WA), and Joshua Fambro (Taos, N.M.) to take the team title. 

Heading into the final day, the Bulldogs trailed ERAU by one stroke after the Eagles shot a 287 second round to jump from fourth to first.   

Across the final 18 holes all five Bulldog finishers shot 75 or lower for the second-straight round. Mularski had the second lowest score for the round shooting a 70, improving upon his 74 in the first and second rounds. 

The Bulldogs' highest finisher, Buck, came in third overall after shooting rounds of 70-73-73. Buck finished four strokes off the winner and two behind the runner-up. Mularski tied for fourth.

The third top-10 finisher was Fambro who came in sixth after a 74 final round and a 220 three-round score (74-72-74), a respectable eight strokes off the lead.   

The other two Bulldogs who scored were Spencer Leader (Oakland, CA) and Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR). They came in 13th and tied for 16th, respectively. After tough first round scores of 81 for both of them, Leader shot a 72-73 and Yim went 74-75 to end their invites.

Mario Dino (Denver, CO) and Jay Briggs Jr. (Columbus, OH) competed as well for the Maroon and Grey but as individuals.  Dino finished in a tie for 20th after an 81-74-80, while Briggs Jr. took 39th with an 84-85-91.    

The Bulldogs have concluded their fall schedule where their most recent ranking placed them No. 19, putting them in good starting position for the spring season. Redlands returns to competition for SCIAC No. 1 hosted by Pomona-Pitzer at El Dorado Golf Club in Long Beach taking place on Saturday and Sunday, February 11-12.
