Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll

REDLANDS, Calif. - The University of Redlands men's golf team earned the No. 19 ranking in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs jumped into the rankings after being unranked thanks to a win at the Bulldog Fall Invitational and a second-place finish at the Cal State Intercollegiate.

At the Cal State Intercollegiate hosted by Cal Lutheran University, the Bulldogs took second behind Joshua Fambro (Taos, N.M.) who came in for a tie for second after a first round 68 (tied for the third lowest round score at the tournament) and a third round 70. Aaron Buck (Tualatin, Ore.) had a top-20 finish, tying for 17th in his first tournament as a Bulldog.

At the Bulldog Fall Invite, Redlands made an eight-stroke comeback and beat current No. 18 Willamette University by one stroke. Redlands also beat out Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe and No. 7 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Pomona-Pitzer who is receiving votes, and No. 23 in the NAIA poll, Embry-Riddle (Ariz.).

Fambro again was the top individual finisher for the Bulldogs, tying for fourth. His first round 66 is the fourth lowest single-round score in program history and now ranks third in the individual lowest score records.

Spencer Leader (Oakland, Calif.) was the second-place finisher for Redlands and the 6th overall.  Buck was third and tied for 11th overall. Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, Ore.) was tied for 22nd overall, but made his mark with a third and final round score of 69. That score ranks Yim as the 25th best individual athlete in program history.

The Bulldogs return to action for their final tournament of the fall at the ERAU Fall Invitational in Prescott, Ariz. at the Antelope Hills Golf Club. The invite starts each day at 8:00 a.m., kicking off this Sunday, October 8 and running through Tuesday, October 11.
