Dylan Merchant's Medalist Honor Lifts No. 28 Redlands Men's Golf to Second Place at SCIAC Tournament No. 2

The No. 28 University of Redlands men's golf team battled it out at Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament No. 2 over the weekend at Oak Quarry Golf Course in Riverside.  With freshman Dylan Merchant (Ellsworth, WI) earning the medalist honor, the Bulldogs finished second in the team standings by posting a two-round total of 597 (303-294).

After signing his scorecard with a 74 on the first day, Merchant posted Sunday's lowest round with a 70 to finish at the top of the leaderboard with a 144. 

Sophomore Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) tied for fourth with a 36-hole score of 147 (74-73) on the par-72 course, while sophomore Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) closely followed at 151 to tie for 10th. Sophomore Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) improved upon his opening round of 79 by shaving off three strokes to finish in a tie for 22nd at 155.  Finally, junior George Galanis (Glencoe, IL) posted a 159 (79-80) and freshman Cameron Cooper (Seattle, WA) recorded a 163 (79-84).

With the aggregate scoring through four rounds, the Bulldogs now sit third in the SCIAC standings with a total of 1204.  Redlands is just 12 strokes behind Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and 20 behind the conference leaders from the University of La Verne.

Redlands heads to the SCIAC Championship Tournament on Sunday, April 23, through Tuesday, April 25, at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills.
