Bulldog Men's Golf Tabbed Second in the 2017 SCIAC Preseason Poll

Despite being comprised of mainly freshmen, the University of Redlands men's golf team landed second on the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) preseason poll that was released earlier this morning.  In the inaugural poll for this sport, the Bulldogs collected 48 points, which was 15 points behind first-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, but two points ahead of Cal Lutheran University in third.

The University of La Verne (40 points), Chapman University (34 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (23), Occidental College (22), and Whittier College (9) completed the poll.

After last season's second-place finish, Redlands strives to build upon that momentum in the coming season, with sophomore Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) leading the way as a returning First-Team All-SCIAC honoree.  Without a senior among them, the Bulldogs look to the young talent of sophomores Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) and Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) to help guide the way.  In addition, juniors George Galanis (Glencoe, IL) and Joseph Kuehn (Eugene, OR) bring significant experience as the team's only third-year competitors.

The conference champion is determined by the lowest aggregate score among the seven rounds of competition.  Ranked No. 28 by Golfstat, Redlands strives to start things off well during the upcoming 36-hole SCIAC tournament, which takes place Saturday, February 18, and Sunday, February 19, at the Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena.
