Senior John McCord Becomes Three-Time All-American with This Year's Second-Team Nod

It was announced yesterday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) that senior standout John McCord (Oakland, CA) of the University of Redlands men's golf squad was named to the NCAA Division III PING® All-America Second Team for the second-consecutive time en route to his third overall nod.

McCord capped off his historical career by hauling in the individual gold medal at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships while never forfeiting the lead following an opening-round mark of 65. His stellar performance resulted in being named the 2016 Lee Fulmer SCIAC Athlete of the Year.

McCord finished among the top 20 in the GolfStat rankings at 16th with an adjusted scoring average of 74.15. His talents were recognized on the national stage by being nominated for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year. Additionally, he was named to the GCAA All-West Region First Team for the fourth-consecutive year.

Consistency was McCord's middle name by carding 18 rounds below 76. This mark included six scores in the 60s.
