No. 16 Redlands Men's Golf Suffers Woes in SCIAC Tournament No. 2

The No. 16 University of Redlands men's golf team competed in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament No. 2 this past weekend in Anaheim at the Anaheim Hills Golf Club. After holding the top spot in the standings upon conclusion of day one, the Bulldogs suffered a handful of setbacks en route to a fourth-place finish with an overall score of 590 (289-301).

Senior John McCord (Oakland, CA) led the Bulldogs by tying for second place with an overall score of 142. The lefty swinger carded a lowly opening round of 67, which was tied for the best through the first day. He finished day two with a 75.

Freshman Travis Winn (Salinas, CA) entered the club house just shy of the top five by earning a season-best, two-round score of 145 (72-73) for sixth place overall.

Sophomore George Galanis (Glencoe, IL) tied for 31st with an overall mark of 154 (80-74), while freshman Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) finished right behind him with a total swing count of 155 (76-79) to place 33rd overall.

After completing both conference tournaments, Redlands currently sits in third place in the overall standings with a score of 1,225, which is 12 strokes away from the top spot. The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Stags lead the SCIAC with a stroke tally of 1,214, while the No. 11 Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen follow in second place with a total of 1,222.

The Bulldogs look forward to competing in the SCIAC Championship Tournament at Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont on Sunday, April 24, through Tuesday, April 26.
