The University of Redlands men's golf team competed in the West Cup at the Sierra La Verne Country Club on Monday, March 28, and Tuesday March 29, against a handful of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) members and in-region foes. Redlands performed very well amongst the competition by never falling out of the top five and finishing tied for third place with an overall score of 905 (302-308-295).
Freshman Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) led the way for the Bulldogs by placing sixth overall with a lowly three-round score of 221 (73-73-75). Foxley was quite consistent over the course of 54 holes by notching 36 pars, which was second amongst the field. In addition, he was two-under on par-five holes.
Senior swinger John McCord (Oakland, CA) followed closely behind by tying for eighth place with a three-round total of 224 (76-79-69), as highlighted by a field-best 69 on Tuesday. Overall, McCord holed a total of seven birdies to go along with 30 pars. Additionally, he was one-under on par-five holes.
While showing improvement each round, sophomore George Galanis (Glencoe, IL) finished in the top 25 after carding a 54-hole total of 230 (78-77-75) to earn him tied-for-17th . Freshman Cade Lawson (lake Oswego, OR) finished just outside of the top 25 by tying for 26th place after earning a final tally of 232 (77-79-76). Sophomore Joseph Kuehn (Eugene, OR) rounded out the Bulldog competitors by carding a three-round total of 242 (76-81-85).
The Bulldogs compete in the SCIAC Tournament No. 2 on Saturday, April 9, at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course.
