Bulldog Men's Golf Places Eighth against Top DII Competitors at Coyote Classic

The University of Redlands men's golf team competed in the Cal State San Bernardino Coyote Classic at Arrowhead Country Club on Sunday and Monday. Amongst a field comprised of nearly all Division II teams, with a handful of them being ranked in the top 50, the Bulldogs placed eighth with an overall team score of 900 (303-298-299). In addition, Redlands finished ahead of the only other Division III team in the event, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe University of La Verne, by 22 strokes.

Senior John McCord (Oakland, CA) led the Maroon and Gray by finishing among the top 15 with a three-round total of 220 (73-71-76) to land in a tie for 15th place. Over the two-day event, he holed 10 birdies to rank first among the Bulldogs.

In addition, freshman Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) tied for 38th with an overall score of 226 (73-80-73) that included eight birdies over the course of the Classic. Freshman Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) carded a 228 (80-76-72), which included a decrease in four strokes as each round progressed. Freshman Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) and sophomore George Galanis (Glencoe, IL) rounded out the Bulldog golfers by registering scores of 232 (78-76-78) and 236 (79-75-82), respectfully. Galanis was the only Redlands competitor to record an eagle.

While competing as an individual, sophomore Joseph Kuehn (Eugene, OR) put together a three-round tally of 223 (81-76-76), which placed him in a tie for 49th.

The Bulldogs take their talents to the 20th Del Walker Intercollegiate on Monday, February 29, and Tuesday, March 1, in Long Beach at the Virginia Country Club.
