No. 10 Bulldog Men's Golf Hauls in Silver Medal at CSUSB Coyote Classic by Conquering Coarse Climate Conditions

The No. 10 University of Redlands men's golf team competed in the CSUSB Coyote Classic on Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24, at the Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino. While battling stormy conditions that included heavy rains and strong winds, the Bulldogs placed second among NCAA Division II and III, and NAIA competitors with a three-round score of 869, which was just five strokes behind the top finisher from Chico State University.

Senior Bobby Holden (Simi Valley, CA) led the Maroon and Gray by tying for fourth place as the top Division III competitor with an overall stroke count of 212 (68-75-69).

Junior John McCord (Oakland, CA) fired off a school-record round of 64 to start the tournament and later finished four strokes behind Holden with a 54-hole score of 216 (64-77-75) for 12th place overall.

Despite incredible consistency, senior Anthony Estes (San Pedro, CA) missed a top-25 finish by a mere stroke, tying for 26th with a final tally of 222 (74-74-74). Freshman Jake Ryan (Portland, OR) and junior Ryan Turner (Ventura, CA) also contributed to the solid outing by the Bulldogs with scores of 228 (66-83-79) and 229 (76-76-77), respectively.

The Maroon and Gray travels to Las Vegas, NV, on Sunday, March 1, to compete in the two-day Las Vegas Desert Classic, which takes place on the Pauite Golf Course.
