University of Redlands Coming into the Game

The Bulldogs are coming off a road loss at Caltech last Wednesday, 61-53. Redlands trailed for most of the game as their largest lead was only two and it came 1:07 into the game. The Bulldogs shot 35.7% from the field, 26.1% from three, and were outrebounded by 14. They were able to get great production form their bench with nearly half of their points coming from the second unit, 26-of-53 points. It was a good defensive effort too, holding the Beavers to 36.1% shooting while only committing 13 turnovers.

The Maroon and Grey can not improve upon their current standing of sixth place within SCIAC because even in a scenario where they beat CMS and Caltech loses, the Beavers hold the tiebreaker by sweeping the season series. However, the Bulldogs could drop to seventh if they lose and Whittier wins. In this case they would be tied, and a different tiebreaker would be used as they split the season series. If things stay as is, the Bulldogs will be the sixth seed and play CMS again on Wednesday, February 23, this time on the road for the opening round of the SCIAC Post Season Tournament.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Coming into the Game

The Stags have been struggling as of late, dropping three of their last four games with their one win coming against Cal Lutheran. In their last game the Stags lost at Pomona-Pitzer, 76-67. They allowed 48.1% shooting, 50% shooting from three (8-of-16), were outrebounded by 10, attempted 12 fewer free throws, but they did take care of the ball with only seven turnovers.

CMS currently sits in third place despite their struggles. Regardless of the result against the Bulldogs they are locked in as the No. 3 seed.
