MBB SCIAC Preview: University of Redlands at Cal Lutheran University (By the Numbers)

REDLANDS, Calif. –  The University of Redlands Men's Basketball team will travel to California Lutheran University (CLU) for a key Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game this Saturday, February 12 beginning at 2:00pm. If the Bulldogs can pick up the road win, they will sweep the season series with CLU and keep their hopes alive of hosting the first round of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament. On the other side, a loss would eliminate them from hosting contention.

University of Redlands Coming into the Game
The Bulldogs are coming off a home loss against the University of La Verne this past Wednesday. With that loss the Bulldogs sit in sixth place within the SCIAC Standings at 9-10, 5-7 SCIAC, but they are locked into the eight-team SCIAC Postseason Tournament, and they are still in the race to host a first-round game as they are three games out of the fourth and final hosting position held by their next opponent, CLU, with three games remaining for both teams.

Offensively the Bulldogs are shooting 41.7 percent from the field (7th), making 33 percent of their threes (7th), and converting 63 percent of their free throws (8th). The Bulldogs rank seventh in the conference with 35.3 rebounds per game (RPG), but they do a good job on the offensive boards with 11.7 per game, which puts them all the way up at third.

On the other side of the ball the Bulldogs give up the second most PPG at 77.7 and allow the highest three-point percentage at 37 percent, while allowing 153 three-pointers, the third most. Despite those numbers, the Bulldogs are disruptive on the defensive end, forcing 17.1 turnovers per game, which ranks them second behind upcoming opponent CLU.

They are also one of the most efficient with the second-best field goal percentage (46.9 percent) and three-point field goal percentage (36.6 percent). They do struggle on the glass though averaging only 32.2 RPG, the second fewest.

Defensively they allow 73.7 PPG (6th). They are minus 3.4 in rebounding margin (7th) but force the most turnovers per game at 18.0.
