REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Basketball team returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play Wednesday night, January 12 when they host Caltech beginning at 7:00pm.

Redlands Coming into the Game

The Bulldogs have been away from competition since December 17, 2021 when they took on Cal State Fullerton in an exhibition.  The last time they played a SCIAC opponent was back on December 1 when they beat Whittier College (91-73).  They come into Wednesday with a 5-3, 1-0 SCIAC record and are undefeated inside Currier Gym.     

Caltech Coming into the Game

The Beavers are off to one of their best starts in program history coming into Wednesday with a 7-3, 1-0 SCIAC record.  They currently hold a six-game winning streak dating back to November 24, 2021.  During this run they have beaten Knox (67-52), UC Santa Cruz (70-48), George Fox (58-56), Whittier (75-63), Bethesda (86-79), and Whitman (82-68).  This will be their first test on the road though.       

Head-to-Head (Past Five Years)

Over the past five years the Bulldogs are currently 8-2 against the Beavers, going 4-0 from 2018-20.  Their last loss coming back on February 10, 2018 (78-72).

Redlands – This year the Bulldogs are averaging 78.6 PPG, shooting 43.5% from the field, 33% from three-point territory, and 60.7% from the free-throw line.  They use their size inside to haul in 39.1 RPG, while totaling 11.3 APG.  They attempt almost 25 three-pointers a game and have a -2.9 rebounding margin per game.  They pick up 8.9 SPG, 3.3 BPG and allowing 72.9 PPG and allowing opponents to shoot 41.6% from the field, which includes a 30% clip from behind the arc.

Caltech – The Beavers are smart with the ball, despite only putting up 69.7 PPG, they shoot 41.6% from the field, 31.7% from three-point territory, and 68% from the free-throw line.  They too have size inside bringing in 39.7 RPG and are very good at sharing the ball as they total 18.8 APG.  They take almost 29 three-pointers a game, have a 3.8 rebounding margin, allowing 68 PPG, and allowing opponents to shoot 40.3% from the field and 31.1% from three-point territory.
