UR Men’s Basketball Rolls to Victory over Caltech

The University of Redlands men's basketball team took down the Beavers of Caltech in Saturday's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game in Pasadena, leading wire to wire for the second time in as many outings. The Bulldogs held their opponents to a 22.4% shooting display and dominated the rebounding battle with a 57-34 advantage, which included a 10-board differential on the offensive end.

Redlands opened the game with seven unanswered points and quickly built a 24-4 lead with about eight minutes to go in the opening period.

The Maroon and Gray continued to dominate, resulting in a 38-14 halftime score.

By the 11:50-mark of the second stanza, Redlands was up by 40 points and never looked back en route to its third conference win of the season.

Senior center Jack Colston (Dana Point, CA) posted a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, highlighted by four on the offensive end. Junior guard Tristan Kirk (Redlands, CA) led all scorers with 16 points, which came off of 7-for-9 shooting. He also dished out six assists and nabbed three steals.

Despite struggling from the free-throw line, the Bulldogs converted their shots at a 44.1% clip.

All 16 Redlands players saw time in the contest, with 14 of them scoring at least one point.

Redlands (8-8, 3-2 SCIAC) welcomes Cal Lutheran University to Currier Gym on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
