Bulldog Men's Basketball Gains Experience against No. 25 San Diego State University

The University of Redlands men's basketball team traveled to Viejas Arena at San Diego State University for a unique match-up against the 25th-ranked Aztecs of NCAA Division I on Friday night. With more than 12,000 fans watching the unusual cross-divisional showdown, the Bulldogs shot just 24.6% for the match, leading to a 43-94 non-conference loss.

However, the Maroon and Gray stepped up on defense during the second stanza, holding San Diego State to just 36.7% shooting, compared to its first-half explosion that came at a 57.1% clip.

Junior guard Brian Kuklok (Poway, CA) led the Bulldogs with 11 points, nine of which came from beyond the arc. Sophomore forward Eric Radford (Federal Way, WA) chipped in eight points for Redlands.

SDSU (12-2) benefitted from six players in double-digit scoring, with Jamaal Franklin posting a double-double for the second time in his career. He led all scorers with 26 points, highlighted by four three-pointers, to go along with 10 rebounds.

Meeting for the first time since 1968, Redlands and SDSU began competing against each other in 1925. The Aztecs leads the series, 25-13.

Redlands (4-6) returns to the friendly confines of Currier Gym on Wednesday, Jan. 4, for a non-conference showdown against American Sports University at 7:30 p.m.
