Kuklok Leads Bulldog Men's Basketball to Victory over Pomona-Pitzer

With sophomore guard Brian Kuklok (Poway, CA) hitting six three-pointers, the University of Redlands men's basketball team held on to a 10-point lead in the first half to garner a 64-55 victory over the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges during tonight's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) tilt in Claremont.

Kuklok's 20-point outburst, which included all but two of the team's long-range baskets, ties his career-high and led all scorers in the game.

Redlands knocked down all 10 of its free-throw opportunities and shot a solid 34.8% from beyond the arc, bettering its overall mark of 31.9%.

The Sagehens shot a measly 41.2% on 17 attempts from the charity stripe to go along with a 4-for-21 performance from downtown.

However, Pomona-Pitzer produced a slightly more effective offense with a 34.4% overall clip, but the Bulldogs' eight three-pointers provided the difference.

In addition, the Maroon and Gray dominated the boards, nabbing 48 to the Sagehens' 34.

Beyond Kuklok, Redlands gained double-digit scoring from senior forward Matt Dietrich (Phoenix, AZ) and senior center Andrew Mills (Newcastle, WA) with 12 apiece. These two Bulldogs also accounted for 20 total rebounds, including nine on the offensive end.

Senior center Jordan Sanvictores (Redwood City, CA) was held to just two points after putting up 27 against Whittier College on Saturday but grabbed 10 rebounds in only 16 minutes of action.

For the Sagehens (3-10, 2-4 SCIAC), Jake Klewer provided 15 points and nine rebounds, while Donald Okpalugo recorded 13 points as the only other double-digit scorer.

Redlands (8-9, 5-1 SCIAC) currently sits alone in second place in the conference standings. The Bulldogs head back to Claremont on Saturday for a SCIAC clash of the top two teams when they take on undefeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 7 p.m.
