The University of Redlands men’s basketball team returned
to action after a short break for the holidays and suffered a
wake-up call against non-conference foe, Chapman University. In the
opening minutes, the Bulldogs quickly fell behind to a crisper
Chapman squad that shot an impressive 60.8% from the floor,
compared to their 38.1% mark. In its first game since
December 9, Redlands faltered against the Panthers, 51-87.
Redlands gained double figures from junior guard Patrick Coffey
(San Carlos, CA) and senior forward Travis Miller (Coto de Caza)
with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Sophomore forward Matt
Dietrich (Phoenix, AZ) added eight points and two rebounds in the
loss.
Chapman was led by Griffin Ramme with 13 points while Jared Kaiser
chipped in 12.
The Panthers not only shot well but controlled the boards, gaining
41 to Redlands’ 15.
Redlands (3-6) looks to bounce back tomorrow afternoon when it heads to La Sierra University for a 2 p.m. game against the Golden Eagles.
