Redlands Men's Basketball Struggles against Cal Lutheran

Despite making the same number of shots from the field, the Bulldog men's basketball team struggled against the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran University on Saturday night.  CLU jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, cruising to a 69-52 victory over the Bulldogs.  With the result, the Kingsmen remain tied atop the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings at 4-1, while the Bulldogs fall to 1-4 for a sixth-place tie.

Although Redlands cut the Kingsmen's early lead to two points with 14:27 remaining in the first half, it struggled from the foul line when given limited chances, converting only three of its seven opportunities.  On the other end, CLU went 22-for-32 from the charity stripe, creating the difference in the final score.

Both teams hit 22 shots from the floor, with Redlands connecting on five from long range, compared to the Kingsmen's three.

The Bulldogs gained double figures from sophomore forward Matt Dietrich (Phoenix, AZ) with 11 points and senior guard Patrick Coffey (San Carlos, CA) with 10 points.

The Bulldogs (5-10, 1-4 SCIAC) look to rebound on Wednesday as they return home to Currier Gym for a SCIAC game against Caltech at 7:30 p.m.
