D3football.com All-West Region Teams
REDLANDS, Calif. - The D3football.com All-West Region teams were announced Wednesday with thirteen Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) student-athletes being recognized, which included University of Redlands junior punter Vicente Garcia (Fontana, CA) and senior defensive back Scott Tinsley (Capitola, CA).
Garcia becomes an All-West Region selection for the first time in his career landing on the 2nd Team, while Tinsley was selected for the second straight year this time to the 3rd Team.
Garcia is coming off a career season being named 2nd Team All-SCIAC, while earning d3football.com Team of the Week honors and being voted as a SCIAC Specialist of the Week. He led the nation in punting at 45.6 yards/punt. That mark is a new single-season program record, beating out Sean Lipscomb's 45.2 average from 2000. He narrowly missed a spot in the Top-10 for punting yards by less than 100 yards, but helped the Maroon and Grey finish second in the nation in net punting at 41.16. On the season Garcia totaled 42 punts for 1915 yards with a long being for 69-yards. He also had 12 land inside the 20-yard line, 10 that were fair caught and another three that were touchbacks.
Tinsley was selected as a 1st Team All-SCIAC selection for the second straight year after leading the Bulldog defensive unit. He was third in the conference and set a career-high with 63 tackles from his DB spot. He also added four tackles for a loss, a fumble recovery, and three interceptions with one returned for a 75-yard touchdown.
The Bulldogs finished the season 4-6, 4-2 SCIAC, finishing third in the final SCIAC Standings.

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2022. Region 6 includes the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Northwest Conference, the SCIAC, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference and the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. In total, 1,096 players were nominated.
