2022 University of Redlands Football Schedule

REDLANDS, Calif. - The University of Redlands Football team heads into the 2022 season looking to build off a strong 2021 campaign where they finished 8-2, 6-0 SCIAC, which included a six-game winning streak to end the regular season, while winning the SCIAC Championship Title qualifying them for the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Thanks to their fifth straight winning season, the Bulldogs have earned a Pre-Season National Ranking according to the CFB Network, coming in at No. 21.         

Of their eight wins in 2021, the University of Redlands won six of them by double-digits. In their win against Whittier College (Nov. 6) they scored 65 points which tied them for the ninth most points in a single game in school history. In the game against the Poets, they scored nine touchdowns which is tied for the sixth most in a single game. The U of R had the sixth highest scoring season in program history with 360 points, scored the third most touchdowns in a single season with 48, and totaled eight picks, which ranks them eleventh.  From an individual perspective, 12 players were named to the All-SCIAC teams, Head Coach Jim Good and his staff were named the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year, and former quarterback Nathan Martinez was voted the SCIAC Offensive Athlete of the Year.

Five different Bulldogs set single-season individual records with Martinez completing 67.1 percent of his throws, good for third highest. Safety Scott Tinsley recorded six interceptions which put him in a tie for eighth most in school history and the third most since 2010.  Jadin Michaels posted the ninth most passes defended with eleven, which included nine pass break-ups and two interceptions. Receiver Khory Day had the seventh best punt return average at 15.4 and setting another record in special teams was Giovanni Isles who had a 31.6 kickoff return average, the seventh highest in program history.

• George Fox (Sep. 3 | 6-3): The Bulldogs won the previous meeting last year on the road 24-14 … overall, they have won the previous three meetings with the last loss coming on the road in 2017, 13-10 … 2016 was the last time the Bruins scored 20 or more points, a 31-22 Redlands win.
• Pomona-Pitzer (Sep. 10, Oct. 29 | 4-6): The Bulldogs handled the Sagehens with a 34-18 win last season … The Bulldogs have won 19 in-a-row against Pomona-Pitzer dating back to 2002.
• Linfield (Sep. 17 | 11-1): The Bulldogs' two losses in 2021 came against the Wildcats, 51-10 at home and 44-10 on the road in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Championships … The Bulldogs have played the Wildcats every season since 2018, with their last win coming in 2019.
• Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Sep. 24, Nov. 5 | 7-3): The Bulldogs beat the Stags in a tight 22-19 road game last season thanks to a game-winning touchdown with :20 seconds remaining … The Bulldogs have won the last two meetings with their last loss coming at home in 2018, 20-10.
• Cal Lutheran (Oct. 8 | 6-3): The Bulldogs scored 49 unanswered points after trailing 14-0 as they got the win 56-28 in 2021 … With their win last season, they are now on an eight-game winning streak against the Kingsmen with their last loss coming in 2012, a 45-35 home loss.
• Chapman (Oct. 15 | 7-3): Won their homecoming matchup with the Panthers last season 28-24 … Both teams have won each of their last three home games dating back to 2014 when the Bulldogs lost at home 31-27 and 2013 when the Bulldogs won on the road 21-17.
• La Verne (Oct. 22 | 3-6): Redlands beat the Leopards 51-7 on the road last season and have won the last five meetings with their last loss coming in 2015 when they fell at home 49-42.
• Whittier (Nov. 12 | 0-9): The Bulldogs will end their season with the Poets as they look to replicate their dominant 65-7 road win last season … Redlands is currently on a 14-game winning streak against the Purple & Gold dating back to 2006 when they lost in overtime, 28-21.
