Tony Williams Jr. named SCIAC Specialist of the Week

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Athletes of the Week in the eighth week of voting.  University of Redlands senior running back and return specialist for the Bulldog Football team Tony Williams Jr. (Indio, CA) was selected as the SCIAC Specialist of the Week.

This is the first time Williams Jr. has been selected as the Specialist of the Week this year but is the fourth straight Bulldog to be recognized in as many weeks joining Brendan Marmion (Aliso Viejo, CA), Vicente Garcia (Fontana, CA), and Giovanni Isles (Chino Hills, CA).

Williams Jr. led the special team's efforts in the Bulldogs' 28-24 victory over Chapman University. He returned three kickoffs for a combined 100 yards including a long return of 60 yards. He averaged 33.3 yards per attempt. He also provided an offensive spark for the University of Redlands, scoring a pair of touchdowns on three rushing attempts for a total of six yards. 

Redlands is now 6-1, 4-0 SCIAC and enters a bye week.  They return to action on November 6 when they travel to take on the Poets of Whittier College.
