Redlands Rewind with Calhoun Helmberger: September 21, 2019

The University of Redlands football team enjoyed a remarkable season in 2019, as the Bulldogs produced a nine-win record for the first time since 1978 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships for the ninth appearance in program history.  In addition, Redlands knocked off then-No. 11 Linfield College (OR) on September 21, 2019, for the Maroon and Gray's first-ever win over the Wildcats.  Senior offensive lineman Calhoun Halmberger named this his most memorable moment for today's Redlands Rewind.

"On the national stage, we were considered an underdog competing against a highly-ranked team. But as a team, we knew what we were capable of. The offensive line and defensive line dominated in the trenches and, collectively, we played the best game of football I've ever been a part of. It was a very fun game with a lot of hype around it," Helmberger stated.

The Bulldogs impressed in multiple categories on their way to a 27-19 win.  Not only did they earn more first downs and more yards of total offense, but they held Linfield to minus 37 rushing yards.  Redlands amassed 174 yards on the ground to go along with 139 passing yards for 313 yards of total offense.  The Bulldogs also forced the Wildcats into two lost fumbles and three costly sacks.
