It was announced earlier today that the University of Redlands earned three Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) athletes of the week, including senior defensive back Jeff Hector (Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA) as the Football Defensive Athlete of the Week. 

Hector locked down his side of the field with three interceptions in a 58-7 victory over the University of Puget Sound on Saturday night. After a teammate snagged an interception on the Loggers' previous possession, Hector picked off UPS once again, which led to a successful field goal for the Bulldogs in the second quarter. He then ignited an electrified Maroon and Gray defense with an interception on the first possession of the second half. Hector remained focused and corralled his second pick of the quarter to end Puget Sound's drive for the third time in the game. He also added two tackles, including one for a 14-yard loss. 

As a team, the Bulldog defense earned seven takeaways and held the Loggers to only seven points for the game.
