Bulldog Football Hosts Take a Kid to the Game Night and Coach to Cure Event on Saturday

The University of Redlands and Bulldog Athletics invite the local community to attend the Bulldogs' next home football game on Saturday, October 6, at 7 p.m. against Chapman University during "Take a Kid to the Game Night" at Ted Runner Stadium.  All kids 18 and under, as well as any adult who brings a child to the game, will receive free admission.

Furthermore, Head Coach Mike Maynard, his staff, and the Redlands Police Department are teaming up to support the annual "Coach to Cure Campaign" to end Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

To raise awareness about the condition, the Bulldogs will host 12-year-old Nathaniel at the game on Saturday night, and the Redlands Police Department will provide a tailgate experience for him and his family.  As a means of promoting positive relations between youth and the police as well as creating a unique tailgate experience for Nathaniel and his family, RPD will bring out the Redlands Police Officers' Foundation's barbeque and provide all children attending the game a pre-game meal (hamburgers and hotdogs).  In addition, kids will have the opportunity to visit with one of RPD's K-9s and climb aboard the Redlands Police Department's rescue vehicle.  Festivities start at 5 p.m. in the parking lot located behind the University of Redlands Chapel.

Fans are encouraged to donate $10 to Coach to Cure M.D. by texting the word "CURE" to 50555.  In addition, people can visit the organization's website to make a donation.

During halftime of the game, kids under 12 years of age will be invited down to the field to participate in fun, football activities, like catching the pass, kicking the field goal, and tackling the dummies.  The Redlands cheer team will host a short clinic in front of the stands on the track for the children, who will receive pom-poms.

At the end of the intermission, the events staff will hand out a Bulldog prize to thank all children for participating in "Take a Kid to the Game Night."

For those not participating in Take a Kid to the Game Day, ticket sales begin at 6 p.m. on October 6 at the Frank Serrao Gateway to Ted Runner Stadium.  General admission is $10 for adults. Tickets for fans 55 and over and junior high/high school students with proper identification are $5.  All University of Redlands students and employees, as well as those from SCIAC schools, are admitted for free.   Children under 12 receive complimentary admission too.

Coach to Cure MD is a game-day charity partnership between the AFCA and ParentProject Muscular Dystrophy.
