Senior Daniel Gonzales Recognized as AFCA All-America First-Teamer

Senior defensive back Daniel Gonzales (Mentone, CA) caps off an already-impressive final campaign with the Bulldogs by representing the University of Redlands on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America First Team, as announced by the organization earlier today.

In addition, he is the sole representative of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) among the two All-America teams for NCAA Division III in 2017.

Gonzales finished the recent campaign as the national leader in interceptions per game with a total of nine over nine games.  He also ranks third with 19 passes defended.  Furthermore, he recorded 35 tackles and two tackles for loss during the Bulldogs' 7-2 season that included a 5-1 run in the conference.

This Redlands East Valley High School graduate becomes the sixth AFCA All-American in Redlands' history and the first such honoree since kicker Kevin Grady earned the award in 2012.
