Senior Daniel Gonzales and Junior Nathan Hierlihy Collect D3football.com All-West Region Honors

Daniel Gonzales and Nathan Hierlihy earned D3football.com All-Region honors.

It was announced on Tuesday night that two University of Redlands football standouts were selected to the 2017 D3football.com All-West Region Team, as presented by the City of Salem.  Senior cornerback Daniel Gonzales (Mentone, CA) represents the Bulldogs on the First-Team Defense, while junior kicker Nathan Hierlihy (Redondo Beach, CA) lands on the Second-Team Offense.

While hauling in his inaugural All-West Region honor, Gonzales is the only member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to land on the First team this season.  He currently leads the NCAA Division III in interceptions per game with a total of nine on the 2017 season.  He also ranks third in the nation in passes defended with 19.  After earning a spot on the All-SCIAC First Team, Gonzales adds to his resume with this year's All-West Region First-Team selection.

Hierlihy continues to reel in the awards this season with his first-ever All-West Region nod as the SCIAC's only Second-Teamer.  He also sits first in NCAA Division III with 1.67 field goals per game for a total of 15 made on the year.  He converted three that were 50 yards or longer, including a school-record boot of 55 yards to co-lead the nation this season.  In addition, Hierlihy has been tabbed the only Division III finalist for the prestigious Fred Mitchell Award, which honors an outstanding place-kicker who is committed to community service.
