It was announced earlier today that junior offensive lineman Christian Godina (Glendale, AZ) of the University of Redlands landed on the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team for NCAA Division III football.

Among the 27-man team, Godina is one of five offensive linemen to be recognized on the elite list for District 8.

This season, Godina worked his way into the starting rotation for a Bulldog football team that racked up 4,456 yards of total offense with an incredibly balanced performance through the air and on the ground.  He played a solid role in the Maroon and Gray's 7-2 season that culminated in the team's fifth-consecutive Smudge Pot victory over Cal Lutheran University, with this year's effort coming in a 21-17 decision on the road.

A likely three-time Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Team selection and Redlands Scholar-Athlete, Godina excels in the classroom as a Biology major with a near-perfect GPA.  He also consistently lands on the Dean's List for his academic achievements.

Godina is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration, which will be announced in early December.
