Sean Murray Twice Named to the D3football.com All-West Region Teams

It was announced earlier today that senior Sean Murray (Phoenix, AZ) represented the University of Redlands football program on the 2015 D3football.com All-West Region Teams, earning two awards for his strong contributions throughout the season.  He landed on the First Team for Defense as a punter and also garnered a spot on the Offense's Third Team as a kicker.

Murray becomes the first Bulldog punter, the second Redlands kicker, and the 17th overall honoree in Maroon and Gray history to be named to the D3football.com All-West Region teams, which were first presented in 2005.

As the Maroon and Gray's primary punter, Murray racked up 1,745 yards on 43 attempts for an average of 40.6 yards, which ranks him 12th in all of NCAA Division III for the 2015 season.  He recorded a long of 60 yards and pinned eight inside the 20-yard line.

Overall, Murray led the Bulldogs in scoring with 51 points, which came off of six field-goals and 33 PATs.

On October 31, he scored 11 points in the Bulldogs' 59-7 win over Whittier College, breaking the school record with a 54-yard field-goal in the process.  This boot currently leads all of NCAA Division III this season.

During the annual Smudge Pot game against Cal Lutheran University, he scored seven of Redlands' 13 points in the 13-10 triumph.  This included the game-winning field-goal from 17 yards out.

Earlier this season, he was twice named to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) First Team as a punter and as a kicker.
