Redlands Community Invited to “Take a Kid to the Game” during Bulldog Football’s Smudge Pot Contest on October 11

The University of Redlands invites the local community to attend the Bulldogs' next home football game on Saturday, October 11, at 7 p.m. against Cal Lutheran University as part of "Take a Kid to the Game Night" at Ted Runner Stadium. All kids 18 and under, as well as any adult who brings a child to the game, will receive free admission.

In addition, all kids in attendance will receive a voucher for a free Corner Bakery Café kid's meal, compliments of the Redlands restaurant. The vouchers will be presented to the children at the end of halftime. During the game's intermission, all children ages 12 and under will be invited down to the field to participate in fun, football activities, like catching the pass, kicking the field goal, and tackling the dummies.

For those not participating in Take a Kid to the Game Night, ticket sales begin at 6 p.m. on October 11 at the Frank Serrao Gateway to Ted Runner Stadium. General admission is $7 for adults and $4 for senior citizens (55 and over) and junior high/high school students with proper identification. All University of Redlands students and employees as well as those from Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) schools are admitted for free.

Riding the momentum of their first SCIAC victory of the season, the Bulldogs look to defend their Smudge Pot Trophy against the Kingsmen during the October 11 contest. Beginning in 2012, the Smudge Pot became a perpetual trophy that celebrates the heritage and history of the citrus industries in San Bernardino and Ventura counties. The winner of the annual game between Cal Lutheran and Redlands is presented with the Smudge Pot, earning the honor to paint it in the respective school colors while hosting the trophy until the next meeting. The Bulldogs captured the 2013 trophy with a 10-7 defensive victory in Thousand Oaks.
