ABCA/Rawlings All-Defensive Teams

REDLANDS, Calif. – Luke De Vries (Irvine, CA) represented University of Redlands Baseball on the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III Region 10 All-Defensive Team as an outfielder and was one of nine selections to the team.        

Bulldog Baseball was one of two schools within the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to land an athlete on the defensive team joining Cal Lutheran University who was represented by two student-athletes.      

De Vries, who was recently named a CSC Academic All-Region recipient, earns this recognition for the first time in his career proving to be one of the top outfielders in the West Region.  This season he played in 37 games with 44 hits, which included five doubles and a triple.  He also scored 22 times, drove in 17 with five stolen bases, 16 walks, a .328 average, a .421 OBP and a .381 slugging percentage.

Defensively, he was outstanding in centerfield, boasting a .991 fielding percentage with an assist and 104 putouts.  _____________________________________________________________________________________________

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee. Players selected to the ABCA NCAA Div. III Region All-Defensive teams are eligible for ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors. The 2023 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners in all divisions were announced Wednesday, June 21.
