REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Baseball team (7-9, 3-5) rescheduled their non-conference game with Webster University to Tuesday afternoon due to rain and battled the Gorloks but lost in a rain-shortened game, 8-1.

Starter Nate Helton (Menifee, CA) pitched around an error to retire the Gorloks in his first and only inning.

With Helton out in the second, the Gorloks took advantage of four walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a pair of hits as they scored four times to take a 4-0 lead.

The Bulldogs got a run back thanks to Ian Umscheid (Beaumont, CA) who singled up the middle to score Gabriel Ceja (Long Beach, CA) coming with two outs in the bottom of the third.

Julian Zuniga (San Diego, CA) and Luke Hanson (Escondido, CA) combined to hold Webster scoreless in the third and fourth innings as they were helped out by a pair of runners caught stealing by Umscheid behind the plate.

After a four-run fifth for Webster and a scoreless top and bottom half of the sixth, the game was called due to field conditions from the rain that had fallen throughout the game.

Umscheid had two of the four Bulldog hits as they allowed eight runs due to nine walks and three hit batters as the Gorloks scored five of their eight runs without needing a hit.

The Bulldogs will continue their non-conference schedule as they travel to Tucson, Arizona for four games from Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 19 during the Tucson Cactus Classic.  Over the three days the Bulldogs will take on Macalester (Friday @ 4:00pm), Hamline (Saturday @ 9:00am), Luther (Saturday @ 12:30pm), and Saint John's (Sunday @ 12:30pm).
