SCIAC Preseason Baseball Coaches Poll

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced the 2023 Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll with Chapman University predicted to win their fourth-straight regular season title and the University of Redlands picked to finish sixth.

The Bulldogs received 38 points, three behind Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for fifth place. Chapman University, Pomona-Pitzer, University of La Verne, and California Lutheran University are all predicted to round out the top-four.

In 2022, the Bulldogs finished sixth within the conference standings, 2.5 games out of the fourth and final SCIAC Tournament spot as they went 12-11-1 SCIAC. Overall, the Bulldogs went 22-16-1, the 22 wins were the most since 2018 when head coach Aaron Holley led them to a program record 33 wins.

The Maroon and Grey will be looking to replace both of their 2022 All-SCIAC and D3baseball.com All-Region members, though, they do return Jared Anderson (Gilbert, AZ) who was an ABCA All-West Region Second Team member after posting a slash line of .387/.440/.518 (batting average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage) as a sophomore. With his successful season, he finished in a tie for the third most single season hits in program history with 65.

The Bulldogs began the 2023 season going 2-2 last weekend beating Central Washington (Division) in a single game and going 1-2 against Willamette University.
