Redlands Baseball Releases 2023 schedule

2023 University of Redlands Baseball Schedule

REDLANDS, Calif. – University of Redlands Head Baseball Coach Aaron Holley released his 2023 Schedule Monday, which includes 40 games, 24 at The Yard, 12 away, and another four played at a neutral site when the Maroon and Grey travel to the Tucson Cactus Classic in March.

The Bulldogs open their 2023 slate this weekend with four games played at The Yard.  They open with Division II Central Washington University (CWU) on Friday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m. They then open up a three game series with Northwest Conference opponent Willamette University with a doubleheader being played on Saturday, February 4 (11:00am/2:30pm) and then a single game with the Bearcats on Sunday, February 5 (11:00am).

Redlands looks to improve upon a 22-16-1 record in 2022. Their 22 wins was the most for head coach Aaron Holley since 2018 when he led the Bulldogs to 33 victories.  Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play begins on February 24-25 when UR takes on Pomona-Pitzer (P-P) in a three-game series.

Other non-conference games this season will include Puget Sound (February 12), Whitworth (February 17), Centenary (LA) (February 26), Nebraska Wesleyan (March 6), Webster (March 15), Middlebury (March 22), Pacific Lutheran (March 23), and Vanguard (April 4).

On the roster, Redlands will have a couple of big holes to fill in their lineup with the transfer of Mark Kirkland and Jonah Advincula along with the graduation of Matthew Brumbaugh.  Kirkland led the Bulldogs in doubles (14), RBI's (60), batting average (.454), and hits (69). He ranked sixth in single-season program history with a .454 average, second with 69 hits, and became the new leader in single-season RBI's with 60.

Brumbaugh was the Bulldogs No. 1 catcher, playing in all but one of the Bulldogs' 39 games. He had 10 doubles (4th on the team), a triple, three home runs (4th), 35 RBI's (4th), and a .434 on-base percentage (4th).

Advincula was the team's batting average leader, on-base percentage lead, stolen base leader, and runs scored leader. He finished with the third most single-season hits, fifth in runs scored, and fourth in stolen bases.

Despite the threemlosses, the Bulldogs do return their leading home run hitter in Max Clark (Fontana, CA) who hit the fourth most home runs in a single season with 10. His power was not limited to home runs as he had 22 extra-base hits, which led the team.

Joining their returning home run leader is Jared Anderson (Gilbert, AZ) with the third most single-season hits with 65. Anderson was named 2nd Team ABCA All-West team.
