REDLANDS, Calif. – Aaron Holley, Head Baseball Coach at the University of Redlands announced his 2022-23 recruiting class Friday, which includes four first-years.
Below we take an in-depth look at who these new Bulldogs are….
Kyler Bacosa (San Jose, CA)
Bellarmine College Prep | Right-Handed Pitcher | R/R | 6'3"| 210 lbs
"Kyle comes from a strong baseball family. He is a competitor on the mound that loves to rack up strikeouts and zeros. We can't wait to see what the future holds for him here at Redlands."
Awards: 1st Team All-WCAL with a 1.67 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings pitched.
Sean McCance (Irvine, CA)
Woodbridge High School | Infielder/Right Handed Pitcher | R/R | 6'3" | 190 lbs.
"Sean is an all-around athlete on a baseball field. A true two-way guy that can play just about anywhere. This kid is special."
Awards: MVP of the PCL, 1st Team All-CIF Division 3, hit .382 with 26 RBI's and 12 doubles all while posting a 1.37 ERA and going 6-1 with 51 strikeouts in 46 innings.
Ian Umscheid (Beaumont, CA)
Beaumont High School | Catcher | L/R | 5'10" | 180 lbs.
"Ian can flat out hit. A very good catcher in his own right and a student of the game. We are excited to see what he can do at The Yard."
Awards: 2nd Team All-CIF Division 5, 1st Team All-CBL, Riverside County All-Star, hit .462 with 12 Doubles and two homeruns, all while fielding .987 behind the plate.
Kethan Efron (Henderson, NV)
Coronado High School | Left Handed Pitcher/Outfield | L/L | 6'0" | 170 lbs.
"Kethan is a two-way guy that plays the outfield and pitches. Hits for average and power and can fill up the zone and collect outs on the bump. We are pumped about adding him to the program."
Awards: 1st Team All-Region, 1st Team All-Conference, hit .403 with 24 RBI's, eight doubles and two homeruns, while posting a 3.38 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 29 Innings.
