Coaches' Corner with Aaron Holley (Baseball)

REDLANDS, Calif. – University of Redlands Head Baseball Coach Aaron Holley recapped the 2021-22 season in our next edition of Coaches' Corner.

Looking back on the season, what were some of the highlights?

There were a number of notable highlights this season for me, which included a four home run game against Puget Sound, the walk off win against Cal State LA, a win against St. Katherine where every starter had at least one RBI (Not sure I have ever seen that before), taking two of three from Pomona-Pitzer (Qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships), going 3-1 in Arizona, taking two of three from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, sweeping Caltech, and on the final day against Whittier College getting both senior starters W's, the senior relief arms saves and seeing senior position players making plays and having success at the plate (going out on a high note).

How would your players describe you as a leader? What is your leadership style?

I'm firm but fair. I'm extremely passionate about Bulldog Baseball and can wear my emotions on my sleeve at times.  My players say I'm approachable, caring and understanding, while expecting and demanding a lot from everyone including myself.

What is your vision for the program and coaching philosophy?

I want to continue a tradition of a program that prepares young men for life through the game of baseball. I want nothing more than for my players to earn success on and off the field, while becoming champions.

Two things everyone can control: How hard you work and the attitude you bring to the field every day. Nothing is given to any individual or team, it is earned. Hard work is the answer to most questions. Love your players and they will love you back.

How do you attack recruiting heading into this offseason?

By pounding the pavement. Getting to games, showcases, camps, or tournaments every week and creating relationships and cultivating them.

What was your most memorable moment as a coach this season?

Senior Day! I was so proud of everything the seven seniors accomplished while here at the University of Redlands.  It was a tough goodbye, but I know they will go on to do big things.

What differentiates the University of Redlands to other like institutions? What drew you to coach here at the U of R?

I would have to say the people. The University of Redlands is like a vortex that sucks in people and won't let them go.  Its crazy how many genuine, caring, awesome individuals are involved with the University. I've literally been a Bulldog my whole life so nothing really had to drag me to coach here. It's my home and there is nowhere else for me to be.
