2022 D3baseball.com All-West Region Teams

REDLANDS, Calif. – D3baseball.com announced its 2022 All-Region teams and the University of Redlands landed two players on the squads in District 10. Junior outfielder Jonah Advincula (Santa Clara, CA) was named First Team All Region, while senior first baseman Mark Kirkland (Redlands, CA) was named to the Second Team.

Advincula put together a career year and was selected to the All-SCIAC 1st Team.  He played in 39 games collecting 65 hits, which included three doubles, five triples, seven homeruns and 99 total bases.  He drove in 38 runs and scored 54 times, while batting .430, collecting an OBP of .540 and slugging .656.  But he wasn't just a threat at the plate, he was also a dual threat on the base paths stealing 28 bags along with drawing 27 walks. 

Defensively, he was rock solid in left field posting a .965 fielding percentage with 80 putouts, three assists and a pair of double plays.  The 65 hits he recorded this year ties him for No. 3 in the University of Redlands Single-Season Record Books.  The 54 runs he scored now moves him to No. 5 and the 28 Stolen Bases places him in a tie for No. 4.    

Kirkland also had a career year being named 1st Team All-SCIAC and was selected to the d3baseball.com Team of the Week.  He played in 37 games collecting 69 hits, which included 14 doubles, two triples, three homeruns and 96 total bases.  He drove in 60 and scored 35 times, while stealing 13 bases and drawing 15 walks.  He hit .454 on the year with an OBP of .497 and slugged .632. 

Defensively he posted one of the best fielding percentages for a first baseman in Division III.  He finished the year with a .993 percentage with 263 putouts, 18 assists and 33 double plays.  The 69 hits this season puts him atop the University of Redlands record books for most base hits in a single season.  He also added five hits in a single game, which ranks him in a tie for No. 3.  His .454 batting average moves him into a tie at No. 6 and the 60 RBI's, places him alone at No. 1.    

Redlands wrapped up the 2022 season 22-16-1, 12-11-1 SCIAC and finished sixth in the final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings.    

The 2022 season marks the tenth year that D3baseball.com has named All-Region teams, with more than 1,000 players nominated. The ballot was then made available to D3baseball.com staff and contributors from which three teams in each region were determined.
