Mark Kirkland named SCIAC Hitter of the Week

SCIAC Baseball Weekly Release No. 9

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Baseball Athletes of the Week in the ninth week of voting and University of Redlands senior first baseman Mark Kirkland (Redlands, CA) was named the SCIAC Hitter of the Week.

Mark helped guide the University of Redlands to a SCIAC series win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) thanks to a doubleheader sweep 16-6 and 11-6.  Kirkland hit .733 for the week with an on-base percentage of .750, and a slugging mark of 1.067. He logged 11 hits, scored five runs, connected for three doubles, a triple, and added a home run to go along with seven RBI's. In-game one of the double-header, he notched five hits and is now the 23rd player in school history to record five hits in a single game. 

Redlands returns to the diamond for a non-conference series with Lewis & Clark this weekend, April 8-9.  They host the Pioneers for a single game on Friday (3:00pm) and will return to The Yard for a doubleheader on Saturday (11am/2:30pm).
