Junior Aaron Singh Named the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Shortstop for NCAA Division III

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings Sporting Goods recently announced that junior Aaron Singh (Anaheim, CA) of the University of Redlands baseball team was selected as the NCAA Division III Gold Glove Shortstop.

Singh is the sole representative from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to be included among the honorees.  He follows in the footstep of teammate Rainier Aguilar '18 (San Bernardino, CA), who garnered this distinction as a catcher in 2017.

Determined at nine divisions of amateur baseball, from college to high school, the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove awards recognize the players who have exhibited superior fielding performances at their respective positions. The first ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were recognized in 2007, making this the 12th year.

During the 2018 campaign, Singh saw action in 46 games as the Bulldogs' starting shortstop. With stellar footwork and impeccable coordination, Singh recorded 150 assists and 65 putouts for an awesome .982 fielding percentage.  He also contributed to 29 double plays during the Bulldogs' conference co-championship run.  Offensively, he led the team in two categories with 29 extra-base hits and five triples.  He also ranked eighth in Division III with 21 doubles.

Earlier this season Singh earned a spot on the D3Baseball.com All-America team and the ABCA/Rawlings All-America team. He also received First-Team All-Region nods from both associations and garnered an All-SCIAC acknowledgment to accompany this latest accolade.
