Redlands Baseball Bumps up to Nos. 10 and 15 on Pair of Polls

The American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com released their most recent polls this morning, with the University of Redlands taking the No. 10 and No. 15 spots, respectively. The Bulldogs improved in both polls, moving up from No. 16 and No. 24 in the previous national rankings.

Redlands now owns an incredible 21-6 record and 10-2 mark in conference.

Last week, the Maroon and Gray went 5-0 with a doubleheader sweep against Williams College (MA) and a three-game series victory over Caltech. A significant highlight last week came in game one against Caltech, as senior pitcher Felix Minjarez (Riverside, CA) recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts.

Senior third baseman Brendan Gardiner (Mission Viejo, CA) and senior center fielder Kyle Kabeary (Indio, CA) also provided significant contributions to the victories by knocking 20 hits, including four doubles, three triples, and two home runs, collectively. They also hammered 14 RBI and scored 13 runs.

Nationally, the team ranks first in all of NCAA Division III with 232 runs scored and 67 doubles and takes the second spot in hits with 258. The Bulldogs also lead the nation in sacrifice flies (27) and sits second in base on balls (125).

Individually, junior shortstop Aaron Singh (Anaheim, CA) ties for the top spot in Division III with five sacrifice flies. In addition, the next three contributors take the two-spot in their respective categories, with senior second baseman Will Hall (Seattle, WA) owning 18 stolen bases, senior catcher Rainier Aguilar (San Bernardino, CA) blasting 12 doubles, and Gardiner scoring 31 runs.

Redlands is set to host Middlebury College (VT) on Tuesday, March 28, in a 3 p.m. single game. The Maroon and Gray jump back into Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action with a three-game weekend series against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, beginning at home on Friday, March 30, at 3 p.m.
