Rainier Aguilar Selected to the 2017 ABCA/Rawlings DIII Gold Glove Team

The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings Sporting Goods recently announced the 2017 Gold Glove teams. Junior Rainier Aguilar (San Bernardino, CA) was selected as the Division III Gold Glove catcher.

The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Awards are selected by ABCA coaches committees at each level. The Gold Glove awards go to the players who have exhibited superior fielding performances at their respective positions. The first ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were recognized in 2007, making this the 11th year.

Aguilar saw action in 39 games serving primarily as the Bulldogs starting catcher. In addition to his stellar at-bats, Aguilar recorded 201 putouts, 25 assists, caught eight would-be base-stealers and made no errors for a perfect fielding percentage.

Earlier this season Aguilar received a D3Baseball.com All-America Honorable Mention, an ABCA/Rawlings and D3Baseball.com All-West Region Second Team nod, and a First-Team All-Conference acknowledgment to accompany his latest accolade.
