The University of Redlands baseball team hosted the University of British Columbia (UBC) on Tuesday afternoon at The Yard, and with a number of Bulldogs seeing playing time in the exhibition contest, the Maroon and Gray fell to the Thunderbirds, 6-20.

The Thunderbirds struck early, scoring seven runs through the first two innings.  The NAIA squad extended the lead to 8-0 in the fourth frame before the Bulldogs pulled one back in the bottom half of the inning.  Senior center-fielder Alex Scheiwe (Encinitas, CA) registered the RBI single on the play, scoring junior shortstop Jordan Dresner (Etiwanda, CA).

UBC tacked on more runs as the game progressed, but the Bulldogs scored three of their own in the eighth frame.  Freshman shortstop Christian Conci (San Mateo, CA) ripped a double to left field to score two Bulldogs before senior right-fielder Max Hardman (Encinitas, CA) tallied an RBI groundout later in the frame.

The U of R scored two more runs in the ninth inning when freshman third baseman Spencer Hogger (Bainbridge Island, WA) and Conci notched RBI.

Overall, Hogger, Conci, and freshman catcher Kyle Wallau (San Mateo, CA) each tallied two hits on the day, while Conci recorded a team-high three RBI.

Redlands (1-7) returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Friday when it hosts Caltech at The Yard.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
