Redlands Baseball Silenced by Cal Lutheran Kingsmen

After a shaky start, the University of Redlands baseball team never recovered en route to a 0-9 loss to the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran University on Sunday in Thousand Oaks.  Junior pitcher Kyle Hart (Burbank, CA) struggled through an off first inning, giving up three runs for a Kingsmen lead that held up through the final out.

Senior Brock Jacobo (Yuma, AZ) and junior Eliot Smith (West Linn, OR) finished out the contest from the mound, combining for 5.2 innings and only one earned run.

Overall, Redlands mustered five hits, compared to Cal Lutheran's six, but never pushed across any runs while leaving nine stranded.  Junior designated hitter Marcus Himelhoch (Portland, OR) provided the only multi-hit effort for the Bulldogs, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Senior Peter Ciaramitaro went the distance for the Kingsmen, throwing a complete-game shutout with three strikeouts and four walks.

Redlands (18-17, 12-14 SCIAC) travels to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Friday for a 3 p.m. tilt against the Sagehens before returning home on Saturday to face the Beavers of Caltech at 1 p.m.
