Bulldog Baseball Celebrates Centennial on April 23

One hundred years ago, the University of Redlands baseball team took to the field for the very first time, making 2011 the Centennial season of Bulldog baseball. This tremendous honor for the program and the institution is one that can be matched by only a small percentage of programs across the country.

In order to honor this milestone, Bulldog Athletics invites the University of Redlands baseball community to a special Bulldog Baseball Centennial Celebration on Saturday, April 23, 2011. The celebration will begin with a buffet luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on the field adjacent to "The Yard," the team's home stadium. The luncheon will be followed by a special pre-game ceremony that will include a parade of Bulldog baseball alumni and special recognition of Paul Taylor, who served as the Redlands baseball head coach from 1960 to 1978. Finally, at 3 p.m., the Bulldogs will take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in an exciting SCIAC baseball contest.

The cost for the luncheon is $25.00 and reservations are required.

In addition, Redlands is hosting a Bulldog Baseball Centennial Campaign to raise monies that will directly impact the program's student-athlete experience.

Finally, Bulldog Athletics looks forward to displaying photos and memorabilia for everyone to enjoy during the luncheon on April 23. Anyone associated with the baseball program is encouraged to submit materials for inclusion in this display. Please mail them to Jeff Martinez, Director of Athletics, 1200 E. Colton Ave., Redlands, CA 92373-0999, or send by email.

In addition, Redlands is pleased to offer Centennial apparel for purchase. Fans and alumni can don the Maroon and Gray with a variety of commemorative shirts, sweatshirts and hats.
